GMB: Piers sends Christmas message to Kate Garraway
Kate Garraway, 53, has taken the opportunity to thank fellow TV presenter Emma Willis, 44, for rushing to offer her assistance over the festive period, as the mum-of-two struggled to put Christmas dinner on the table for her family. The Good Morning Britain host recently dealt with her first Christmas without her husband Derek Draper, as he remains in intensive care and continues to recover from coronavirus.
Kate and her daughter Darcey and son Billy spent the day together, which she revealed was a “challenge”.
Fortunately, The Voice UK host Emma was ready to help out, as Kate was unable to get a delivery slot for her Christmas food.
The journalist credited Emma for saving her Christmas as she reflected on the festive season in an emotional Instagram post.
“Well here we are folks – #newyearseve – the last day of a year few will be sorry to see the back of,” she wrote in view of her 968,000 followers.

“Have been quiet for a while – getting through Christmas has been a challenge hasn’t it with all the emotions it stirs in our strange world & no where really to put them – except in hope. And there is still so much real hope out there.
“Not just in the extraordinary health care workers & researchers who definitely hold a bright light for the future. But in all the little kindnesses.”
Kate then paid tribute to those who had supported her after she suffered several disasters at home ahead of the special day.
She penned: “We had a calamitous few days in the run up to Christmas – but we got through thanks to some wonderful people.
“The guys from @bondconstruction who literally got on their hands & knees with me to bucket out water after we had 2 pipe leaks that flooded our home.”
Kate then thanked her friend Emma, writing: “@emmawillisofficial & @marksandspencer who made sure we had #gorgeousfood for our Christmas dinner when I couldn’t get a delivery slot anywhere & the guys from @britishgas who spent hours on the phone helping me to get a fridge & freezer to put the food in.”
She added: “The guys from @skyhelp who talked me through getting our WiFi & tv working on Xmas eve. Your kindness & spirit is overwhelming.
“And all @itv & @global for their constant support. Sending love & virtual hugs to all of you who have sent messages – spreading the love is what will give us all a truly happy new year.”

Kate’s kind words were accompanied by a picture of her Christmas tree, which included a number of pretty ornaments, including a red, double-decker bus.
The star’s GMB co-hosts previously gave Kate and her family a touching mention on the ITV programme’s Christmas Day episode.
Piers Morgan said: “To all of those who have lost loved ones this year, or whose loved ones are seriously ill.
“We’re thinking particularly about our colleague Kate, of course, who won’t be with Derek this Christmas, always a special time for the family.
“Our hearts go out to Kate and the kids today, it will be a very different Christmas obviously.
“We continue to hope and pray that Derek comes through what has been a tremendously difficult ordeal for him and his family.”
Susanna agreed: “Big hug to all of those affected.”
Kate had been hoping to visit Derek in hospital over Christmas and was originally left “unclear” by the government’s announcement of tier 4 restrictions for London.
