Eamonn Holmes, 61, reacted to a petition calling for the presenter and his wife Ruth Langsford, 60, to return to their previous This Morning slot for the Friday editions on the ITV programme. The couple now only present the show during the school holidays, with their old slot recently being taken over by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
Eamonn reacted to author Primula Bond who claimed the veteran host often appeared “bored” during certain segments of the daytime show.
It comes after a petition calling for the married couple’s return to their previous slot was shared online.
The post on Twitter read: “Petition to Get Eamonn & Ruth back in that studio #ThisMorning.”
Primula took the opportunity to respond, saying: “God no.”
The social media user who shared the petition, hit back: “How dare you say that about Eamonn & Ruth they’re the most kind people on #ThisMorning.”
To which Primula replied: “I am uncomfortable with their bickering and he always looks so bored during fashion and other ‘lighter’ segments.”
Seeing their back and forth, Eamonn took to the micro-blogging site and addressed the author’s remarks.
In view of his one million followers, he penned: “Uncomfortable and boring… you sure that wasn’t one of your book reviews? We might have a lot in common.”
“Ouch,” Primula replied, adding a seemingly genuine apology that read: “Touché indeed.”
“That will teach me for being mean. Sorry @EamonnHolmes.”
It appeared there were no hard feelings, as Eamonn responded with prayer hand emojis and a smiling face.
Last month during an appearance on Loose Women, Eamonn opened up about his battle with chronic pain, revealing that he was using crutches while on the show.
The This Morning host has frequently taken to social media to vent his frustrations.

Eamonn recently joked that his wife was to blame for his chronic pain issues in a recent TV appearance.
Speaking on Celebrity Juice, host Keith Lemon quizzed the presenter about his health woes.
The ITV star has since joked that his wife of more than 10 years was the cause of his pain.
“I’m not well,” Eamonn replied.
Keith asked: “Have you shattered your pelvis?”
To which the This Morning host confirmed his health issue is a misalignment of the hip joint.
“[My hips] out of alignment,” Eamonn remarked, as he went on to explain that he was unsure of how it happened.
Eamonn went on: “It was probably getting out of bed or something. I blame Ruth for everything that happens to me.”
