Denise Van Outen has revealed that she has postponed her nuptials to long-term partner Eddie Boxshall after the pair want a “big party with no restrictions”.

The West End actress and commodities trader Eddie, both 46, are willing to wait until 2023 after they had intended to tie the knot in a small registry office and exchange vows sooner rather than later.

The TV personality, who was introduced to Eddie by a mutual friend in 2014, said she is happy to join the back of the wedding queue and predicts there will be a “massive backlog” of couples hoping to say “I do” this year.

Speaking to The Sun, Denise said: “We’re not engaged but we are preparing to get married. It will definitely happen but we’re not in a rush.

She added: “We don’t want a small wedding. We want a big group of people and a big party with no restrictions.”

Denise and Eddie have been together for seven years and live in Essex with Denise’s daughter Betsy, 11, from her previous marriage to musical theatre star Lee Mead.

Meanwhile Eddie has two children from a previous relationship including 21 year old daughter Leah.

The blonde beauty previously told the publication that she was planning on proposing to other half Eddie in 2020, because it was a leap year, but coronavirus put a dampener on her plans.

"I was going to propose last leap year, but we went into lockdown so it was impossible to do it properly. It didn't feel right."

The couple have now decided not to do any proposals or engagements and just go ahead with actually getting married.

She added: “So it’s a joint decision. There is no proposal. We’re doing it the modern way.

“We’re in our forties and I’ve been married before. For a lot of women, the dream is the big rock on the finger. I’m the opposite of that.”

Instead, the couple, who have started a podcast, Before I Say I Do, to test different forms of relationship therapy, are intending on exchanging simple wedding bands when they meet at the altar.

Denise also described in the interview that she knew Eddie was “The One quite early on” and revealed how the pair are already “like a married couple”.

The former Big Breakfast host, who often appears on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside her other-half, revealed how Eddie was “brilliant” at home-schooling Betsy while Denise concentrated on TV projects.

The television personality has also ruled out having any more children and said she doesn't have any regrets about it.

"Two or three years ago we did talk about trying to have children. But it never happened and I don't have any regrets," she explained.

The actress also told the publication that she has become more confident as she's got older and enjoys looking good.

Denise, who has opened up about her horrific Dancing On Ice injury , continued: "I try to embrace my femininity, it's fun.

"In another ten years I won't be doing photoshoots, so I'm making the most of it now.

"Looking good has become more of a focus because I am older, I do like to get dressed up and glam."
