Cole Sprouse is getting candid about his time on Disney Channel.
The 30-year-old former The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and The Suite Life on Deck star opened up in a new interview about how joining the network was life saving at the time for him and twin brother Dylan.

“Funny enough, I get asked about Disney a lot because I think a lot of people want to sort of poke the bear and see, you know, how atrocious the channel was,” Cole said on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “By the time my brother and I got to the Disney Channel, we were good. It was a huge boon to us. It was in many ways, a life saving show. It provided us with an amount of stability and consistency, and routine, that really was needed for my brother and I at the time.”
Cole added that it was a life line because of their mom, who had sole custody of them before their father was “given forced custody” of the twins.
“We pretty much lost everything from the younger parts of our career, that would Friends and Big Daddy, and a lot of that. My mother was an incredibly wonderful and artistic woman, but she was financially the most irresponsible person ever,” he shared. “So we really didn’t have much. We moved in with our father, who was a very blue collar dude, and we lived underneath this wonderful Russian couple named Helen and Vadim, and like the back of their house, and little baby Nikolai… The prospect of the consistency of just the money alone was life changing for not only my brother and I at the time, but also my father.”
Later, Cole was asked who he was friends with and if he still talks to anyone from that time.
“I was a f–kin’ a–hole on Disney, man,” he said. “I was a really angry kid. And in the most cliche way, like angsty teen kid… I was atheist at the time, and I was doing all my Dawkins and Hitchens, and all the kids were Christian, so I was really getting off to like the debates, and that’s a fu–in’ annoying kid. That’s just a really annoying kid,” he said.
“Absolutely not. In fact, I was so vocally opposed to that stuff that everyone, I mean people, the kids thought I was quite radioactive, as I recall. I mean, I was not, you know, the most popular fellow… All the girls loved [Dylan] too, I was so upset.”
As for if he’s still friends with anyone? “I don’t think too much of us keep up anymore, but I think that’s, you know, that’s the nature of all of us growing.”
He then said he saw Miley Cyrus at The Tonight Show, and “it was a nice little reunion,” but “it’s like high school friends that you graduate with and you see them every once in a while, you’re like, oh, we used to be so close or something like that. I don’t think it’s more complex than that.”
