It comes as the presenter spoke candidly on BBC Radio Wales admitting she was called “fat” by viewers on Countdown.
Carol, who rose to fame in her role as co-host of the quiz programme after making her show debut in 1982, told listeners about the moment while interviewing Dragons Den’s Deborah Meaden.
“Everytime I was in the Countdown studio, this would happen each time,” Carol recalled.
“We used to do five shows a day – so three in the afternoon and two in the evening with Richard Whiteley of course.”
She continued: “We had two audiences so one [group] would watch three shows and the other would watch two.
“And in every single audience somebody would say to me, ‘Oh Carol love. You’re not half as fat as you look on the telly.’
Deborah was left taken aback by the mathematician’s admission but Carol explained she didn’t see the comments as a bad thing.
“I loved it,” Carol chuckled. “I genuinely loved it.”
