Alex Rodriguez timed his proposal to Jennifer Lopez down to the minute.
Appearing on the “Tonight Show” on Tuesday, Rodriguez, 43, revealed how he rehearsed the proposal multiple times before popping the question.
“I planned it for about six months, and it was on the beach in the Bahamas,” the MLB star explained. “What was interesting was the three days prior to me going down on one knee and getting engaged, I rehearsed three days in a row cause I wanted the sunset to be perfect.”
With the help of his assistant, he practiced the big moment based on the sunset.
“At one time the sunset was at 6:27, the next day it was at 6:29 and then the third day it was raining,” he explained.
On the day of the actual engagement, however, Rodriguez nearly spoiled it with his own bling.
“I felt like for big moments, I’ve only worn this ring a handful of times,” Rodriguez said of his 2009 World Series ring with the Yankees. “I kind of gave it away because when she saw me put on the ring, she’s like, ‘Where are we going with that ring?’”
Rodriguez popped the question to Lopez, 49, on the beach in the Bahamas last month. The ESPN analyst presented the “Hustlers” actress with a 16-carat ring worth an estimated $1.8 million.
As for wedding planning, Rodriguez said he and Lopez are “still celebrating the engagement.”
The couple started dating in 2017.
