The iconic Rubik’s Cube is getting its very own movie.
Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Endeavor Content are teaming up for a film about the global-selling toy, Deadline reported Sunday (January 3).
The puzzle cube was invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik in 1974, and then licensed to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp. in 1980. Over 450 million cubes have been sold worldwide.
“I’ve had a personal and nostalgic connection to the Rubik’s Cube from my early days in India. I am thrilled to partner with Endeavor Content and Rubik’s/Smiley and look forward to creating a wonderful and complex Rubik’s universe,” said Ashok Amritraj in a statement.
“The Rubik’s Cube is an iconic and family friendly brand. In Partnership with Hyde Park we look forward to creating film, television, and game show content for global audiences,” said Endeavor’s Graham Taylor.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps. You can grab a Rubrik’s Cube of your own at Walmart for less than $10!
