Kylie Minogue shared some brave words of wisdom after getting an earlier diagnosis of cancer after she followed her gut instinct.

The I Should Be So Lucky singer, 55, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36. But before the devastating diagnosis, an initial medical screening missed the tumour completely.

"If you have any doubt, go back again", the pop star told MedicineNet in 2021. By trusting her gut and seeking a second opinion her cancer was able to be diagnosed sooner.

After eight months of chemotherapy and radiation, Kylie was declared cancer free in 2006. Opening up about her diagnosis, Kylie told People magazine: "I remember having had my diagnosis, but the world didn't know. I was with my brother and my boyfriend at the time – we were all in a daze and went to a cafe.

"The server at the cafe was like, 'Hey, how are you today?' We just kind of robotically said, 'Good, thanks.' And in that moment, I just thought, 'You really don't know what anyone is going through.'"

The pop icon added: "I think after cancer or any other big, life-changing incident or illness, you have to adapt. Life is a series of challenges and you aim to have as many good times as possible.

"At this stage in my life I really feel like life is just made of moments, and the more moments that can be good, try to acknowledge that was a good moment."

Breast Cancer UK states that this type of tumour is the "most common cancer in the UK". Women are urged to check their breasts regularly for any signs that something could be wrong or if anything is feeling different.

Here are some of the early indicators, according to Breast Cancer Now;
