<\/p>\nAN interior designer has shared his simple equation to ensure the dining room in your home always looks chic.<\/p>\n
And, surprisingly, it\u2019s all to do with the size of your rug, plus where you place it.<\/p>\n

Jordan Samson said he\u2019s spotted the same interior mistakes again and again, particularly when it comes to home owners\u2019 dining rooms.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In a video posted to his TikTok account @jordansamsondesign, the home pro said many choose too small of a rug and that it immediately unsettles the aesthetic.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That\u2019s because it unbalances everything \u2013 and he said size really does matter in this instance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Opening up about the key errors, Jordan explained: \u201cFirst up is a rug that\u2019s too small for the table.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou want to avoid a situation where as soon as you scoot that chair back, you\u2019ll get caught on the rug.\u201d<\/p>\n But he said his simple maths equation can help put this right.\u00a0<\/p>\n Jordan continued: \u201cTo avoid this, aim to have a rug that is at least 24 inches larger than your table on all sides.\u201d<\/p>\n He then unveiled a further, more detailed, guide to his 93.2k social media followers.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n In it, Jordan shared how a 4-6 seater dining table requires a rug that is 8\u2019 x 10\u2019.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, a larger 6-8 seater piece of furniture would work best with a 9\u2019 x 12\u2019 rug.<\/p>\n But that wasn\u2019t his only piece of advice for interior fans when it came to what rug they should be looking out for.\u00a0<\/p>\n He also said that the style of rug you choose is very important \u2013 particularly when it comes to ensuring it stays clean for guests.\u00a0<\/p>\n Jordan advised: \u201cAvoid anything overly shaggy, high pile or braided \u2013 this will be a nightmare to clean.<\/p>\n Aim to have a rug that is at least 24 inches larger than your table on all sides<\/p>\n \u201cInstead, I would opt for a flat weave or a low pile in a wool or other natural fiber that will be easy to spot clean.\u201d<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/newspress-collage-24283631-1696502831113.jpg\")
