A body conscious woman who developed the skin-pigment condition vitiligo, four years ago, talks about how its affected her body confidence on tonight’s Naked Beach.

All three guests, who share a critically low body image, jet off to a luxurious resort in Greece which is run by eight completely naked hosts that represent a wide range of body types and sizes.

The hosts are all body confident and want to encourage others to be accepting of themselves.

The immersive process and ambitious experiment is based on research by Dr Keon West who says that spending a short amount of time with a range of naked bodies, in all shapes and sizes – resulted in a measurable improvement to to body image, self-esteem and happiness.

After four days of being pushed out of their comfort zones and their clothes, the guests face the ultimate challenge of joining the hosts and baring all on Naked Beach.

Jolie admits in tonight’s show: ‘I don’t really like to show too much of my figure. I think I’ve become even more conscious because of my vitiligo and I think it’s just took its toll.’

‘Now I’ve sort of said this year, enough is an enough. I’ve got to sort of embrace myself and stop hiding my body, and just be me.’

However, when the three guests first arrive to the island, they’re shocked to meet the eight hosts, wearing nothing but body paint.

‘I wasn’t expecting to see all of their butts out,’ Jolie said, ‘I didn’t know where to look, I couldn’t even look at their faces.’

The guests are then given more information about their stay including the nightly task of spending two minutes alone naked in front of the mirror. Research has shown if you spend time looking at your naked body, it will make you more comfortable with it.

Afterwards, the hosts share the news that they’ll be getting naked with them on Naked Beach, at the end of the week.

When it comes to the mirror task, she also struggles to strip down straight away, saying: ‘I’m going to do this at my own pace.’

Discussing her insecurities Jolie says: ‘I just feel like mines a little bit different because it’s vitiligo. I don’t want to get upset but I’m adjusting to that. I’m not happy to show the vitiligo on my body, I’ve only just been able to show it on my face.’

When it comes to the mirror task, she also struggles to strip down straight away, saying: ‘I’m going to do this at my own pace.’

She also tells host Ayesha: ‘I get a patch every other day. It starts off small and then it gets brighter and brighter. And it’s adjusting to that patch. I don’t know where my vitiligo is going to go but your feelings change.’

‘You might be positive for a bit, then you get a dip and then you’re positive again. That’s where I’m at,’ she says.

Ayesha insists that she has to take risks and asks her to jump in the pool with her – after saying it’s just swimming.

Jolie then makes the big step of putting a swimsuit on and getting into the pool. She says: ‘This is a very big step for me. I thought to myself, you know what, I’m going to do this for me. I’m coming out of my comfort zone.’

As the days go on, Jolie becomes much happier and confident in her own skin – but how will she do on day four when she’s asked to bare all?

‘I feel fierce. I was anxious and nervous and just like really scared with butterflies. But this is a one in a life time and I just want to embrace it.’

Overweight David, 38, from Portsmouth lives in tracksuits so that he can hide his silhouette

David, 29, motorway control officer from Portsmouth

‘Over the last few years my body confidence has drastically gone down. I live in tracksuits and comfy oversized clothes so that I can hide my silhouette. I feel by hiding my insecurities people won’t notice as much. It’s a shield, it’s like a protection.’

Once David arrives at the villa, he’s also shocked by the nakedness and on learning about the end task he says :’At the moment, the end goal of taking all your clothes off, I just can’t be on their level at the moment.’

He also opens up about feeling so self-conscious: ‘When I used to live in Brighton in my early twenties, I was going to the gym a lot. I would be able to go into a club and get a lot of attention.’

They are all shocked when they get to the villa and the host are all complete naked, apart from body paint

However, as the days go by, David becomes more confident. During a game of tennis, where they’re given the opportunity to see a range of bodies exercising in an environment free from body shaming, David is encouraged to take his shirt off over his vest.

He mentions he has a major issue with his chest and wants to break down this barrier, but says: ‘For just that tiny time playing tennis, I felt really good again.’

In one scene he’s also encouraged to take his top off in his hot tub: ‘For me it was all about taking something off fully. I’ve actually done that haven’t I?’

‘I feel really happy and good and all the positive words you can think of. I feel drained at the same time. It took a lot of energy to try and do that. I’m so nervous about people’s impressions of me and even being in the same space as someone while I take my top off is massive.’

Danielle, 35 who is struggling with her body image after giving birth to two children,

Danielle, 35, is a project manager and mum of two from Leeds

Danielle says about her figure: ‘When I was a teenager I didn’t really have many hang ups. I just lived life and I was happy with how I looked. When I had my first child things changed. That’s when I thought something needs to change.’

When asked about how she feels about herself, she said: ‘If I was to describe my body to someone now, I’d say it just need to be smaller. Looking back I thought I was fat, looking back, I was fine.’

However, as time goes on during the experiment and even after the night task she says: ‘today I actually feel okay, I feel like I’m getting to know people a bit better. I’m a bit more and ease and myself around them but not at the point where I want to take my clothes off.’

To build on her progress, the hosts invite Danielle to a twerking session which she actually enjoys and says: ‘I had a good time and I’ll practice tonight.

‘I feel really confident with you guys,’ she admits.

But will any of them take the plunge and strip naked on tonight’s show?
