DEAR DEIDRE: I’M scared to come out as bisexual in case my dad never wants to talk to me again or, worse still, disowns me.
I am a boy of 15 and have been scared for some time to admit my true sexuality.
I haven’t told a single person – not even my closest mates.
My dad is not the type to understand me or about bisexuality. He is quite homophobic.
I really wonder if it would just be easier to live my life as a straight guy?
DEIDRE SAYS: That would be a very unhappy path in life.
You deserve to be loved for the person you are but I don’t know your dad.
Maybe he is less prejudiced than you fear.
If not, then maybe leave telling him until you are more confident of your sexual identity.
You can find support at FFLAG – Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (fflag.org.uk, 0845 652 0311).
