A petite bride is reduced to floods of tears in this week’s premiere of Say Yes To The Dress after revealing her own mother called her ‘fat.’

In tonight’s episode of the TLC show, Jacinthe, from Lancashire, is looking to find her dream dress for her upcoming wedding to fiancée Tom on 15th March next year – and has a £1, 200 budget to spend on her dream dress.

But the slim size 6 bride-to-be reveals she is under pressure to find a wedding gown that not only she loves but that her strict, hard to please mother approves of as well.

‘I feel like I’m going to cry, I feel really fat… My mum said,’ she tells presenter and super stylist Gok Wan.

Presenter and super sylist Gok (pictured) tries to reassure bride-to-be Jacinthe that ‘there’s more fat on a chip’ than there is on her

She continues: ‘I’ve actually bought a dress before. ‘I’ve showed a picture to my mother, but she did not like it at all. So I really want to find something that will please her.’

In the first episode of the new series, Jacinthe, who will be tying the knot in Hong Kong on a floating restaurant, reveals that her mum wants her to be reserved for her big day because all of her family are going to be there.

After trying on dress number one which costs £1, 299 from Lux and Love, she admits to liking the train and the detail – but consciously rubs over her tummy before admitting she feels ‘fat.’

‘You feel fat? There is more fat on a chip!’ Gok says, trying to reassure her.

Jacinthe breaks down on the show and says: ‘I’ve actually bought a dress before. I’ve showed a picture to my mother, but she did not like it at all. So I really want to find something that will please her’

While Jacinthe believes a high-necked dress will please her mother, she decides she isn’t keen and opts to continue trying different styles on

With time running out, the pressure is on for him to help Jacinthe find the dress of her dreams – but she also needs approval from her best friends, Clarissa and James first.

‘I really like it but I know the top bit isn’t the traditional route,’ James tells her. ‘I know your mum isn’t going to approve of that. I know she won’t.’

And Jacinthe knows only too well that he’s speaking the truth.

‘This is a beautiful dress but Mum will actually go mad at me,’ says the bride-to-be. ‘She’ll probably shout at me or not speak to me.’

Describing their relationship, she explains: ‘I’m very close to my mum. She’s very brutal but I really want to find something that will please her.’

Trying on another gown by Stella York at £899, Jacinthe declares it ‘too floaty’ and decides it isn’t for her.

‘It’s just something my mum would like and not what I like,’ she says. ‘I’m very indecisive and always trying to please everybody.’

Struggling to find a dress for her East meets West wedding, Jacinthe also rejects a more revealing gown by Stella York, which costs £1, 199.

While Jacinthe, Gok and her entourage may be raising a glass to the fitted lace dress (above) she said yes to, she later changes her mind and opts for dress number one

Twenty four hours later after saying yes to the dress, Jacinthe changes her mind and settles on the very first one she tries on (above)

But her tears finally stop falling when she slips into a gorgeous off-the-shoulder lace bodied dress by designer Enzoani – which totals to £1200 with alterations.

‘I finally found my dress and feel so relieved,’ she says. ‘I can’t wait to get married to Tom – and it will also please my mum, too.

But there’s a plot twist when a few days later, via video link, the bride-to-be reveals she’s changed her mind yet again.

‘After 24 hours of saying yes to the dress I’ve changed my mind again to dress number one. I’ve decided to put myself first – not my mum, not my friends, just me.’
