Tipp Classical has added the legendary Shane MacGowan, Horslips and Thin Lizzy’s Brian Downey and Eric Bell to the line-up for 2019.
Progues frontman MacGowan will be joined by some yet-to-be-revealed special guests and will take to the stage on the first night of the two night festival at Semple Stadium, Thurles, on Friday September 20.
Also new to the line-up is a selection of some of the best young bands in the country, curated by Jerry Fish (who will also return to Thurles to perform himself).
Among them are The Blizzards, singer/songwriter Jack O’Rourke, DJ, composier and big band leader Kormac, the brilliant Bitch Falcon, The Pale, Engine Alley and Thumper as well as Tipp-based trio Bright Falls and Dublin indie-pop quartet Montauk Hotel.
Aside from the hefty nostalgia factor of this new incarnation of Feile (it’s had a name change from Feile Classical to Tipp Classical this year), is the fact that the headliners are accompanied by the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
Horslips, MacGowan, Transvision Vamp, The Stunning, Frank and Walters, Picturehouse, Sultans of Ping, Therapy?, Eleanor McEvoy, Something Happens and Thin Lizzy’s Downey and Bell will all play with the orchestra which promises to be something really special.

Food-wise things have progressed and evolved somewhat since the 90s as 2 Michelin star chef Kevin Thornton will be curating Tipperary Food Feile.
Forget warm beer (unless you like it), you can instead indulge in a tipple in the Prosecco Tent and Applemans Secret Garden. Dingle Distillery will also be there with gin and vodka cocktails.
There will also be Tribal Talks with our very own John Meagher who will be hosting talks music and sport with Paul Collins of 2FM fame. Tipp duo the 2 Johnnies will be joining them.
By night revellers can partake in the massive midnight Silent Disco with Micky Mac V Will Leahy.
There are three glamping options for those who want to stay overnight.
Tickets for Tipp Classical are on sale now for €159.50 (weekend ticket) with day tickets (€89.50) and campervan tickets also available from www.TippClassical.com
