Stacey Dooley: Strictly Come Dancing winner speaks out on love amid Sam Tucknott ‘split’

Strictly Come Dancing winner Stacey Dooley, 32, is reported to have split from her boyfriend of three years Sam Tucknott, 30. The BBC documentary maker is believed to have struggled to maintain her relationship with the personal trainer with their lives going in “different directions”. Just hours before The Sun reported the news, Stacey retweeted a tweet from Queer Eye’s Twitter page writing: “YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE.” Despite the cryptic tweet, the investigative journalist is yet to speak out.

A source told The Sun: “Stacey confided in her friends that she was struggling to hold down her romance with Sam because her life has been a whirlwind after Strictly.”

Since winning the show, Stacey competed on the nationwide tour, signed up to front new show Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star as well as filming other documentaries.

The source added: “She barely saw him during the month-long tour and has gone straight back into filming documentaries and has been travelling all over the world.”

“They have a close circle of friends who hope things might yet work out but it’s not looking likely.

“It was very emotional and has been tough on them both.”

Express.co.uk have contacted Stacey Dooley’s representatives for comment.

Just last month, Stacey opened up on her future plans with Sam, admitting they were in no rush for children.

In a discussion about One Born Every Minute, she told Times magazine: “I close my legs and think, I’m never going to do that.

“In the future [having children] is something I would like, but work is so brilliant at the minute, it won’t be too soon.”

Stacey also revealed she gets “annoyed” with Sam when he doesn’t worry about her travelling to dangerous countries for filming.

Speaking on The Russell Howard Hour, she divulged: “My boyfriend never goes with me, he would be useless.

“I sort of get a bit annoyed when he’s not crying and sliding down the walls when I leave for these places.”

She continued: “I’m like, ‘Are you not scared I’m never going to return?

“Are you not scared you’re going to lose the love of your life?’”

Stacey won the Glitterball trophy with Kevin Clifton on Strictly Come Dancing last year.

In Kevin’s absence on the tour, she danced with Strictly pro Aljaž Škorjanec.
