“Welcome royal baby Archie, earl of Riverdale,” Netflix wrote.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had to see this one coming…
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed on Wednesday the name of their first-born, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, and everyone on social media kept making the same joke — involving "Riverdale" and a certain comic character.
The adorable post from the royal couple’s official Instagram account featured a photo of Harry, Meghan and the boy with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland — but no one, including Chrissy Teigen, could get over that first name.

While there will be no royal title as of now for Archie, the baby’s name became a trending topic on Twitter Wednesday morning, with celebrities, politicians and more reacting to the announcement.
Archie Andrews from Archie Comics and now "Riverdale," played by KJ Apa, proved to be the lowest hanging fruit when it came to playful jabs.
Actress Yvette Nicole Brown wrote, "Aww! Hey Archie! Please let him be a ginger! Please let him be a ginger!
Even Archie Comics and Netflix joined in on the joke. "I’m baby," the comics’ account tweeted. "Archiekins!" Netflix wrote, referencing Veronica Lodge’s (Camila Mendes) nickname for Archie on "Riverdale."
The streaming service then posted a Photoshopped meme to Instagram with the caption: "and y’all thought you were the biggest Riverdale stans. Welcome royal baby Archie, earl of Riverdale."
"Riverdale" writer and creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa joked, "Best. Crossover. Ever. #Riverdale goes ROYAL. Congrats to the Meghan and Harry #archie!
Ever the troll, Piers Morgan also chimed in, tweeted "So the royal couple, in a striking blow for diversity & feminism, have given their son one of the most popular white middle-class first names, Archie, and a second name, Harrison, that was chosen because it stands for ‘Harry’s son’ (I’m serious..). Hilarious."
