The Australian sun makes this skin check indispensable

Trend: White Nail Polish

Pristine, snow-coloured nail polish is perfect for winter nails. To keep the results looking fresh, top your nails off every two days with either a matte or glossy topcoat. The polish will last longer that way, too.

This week I try … screening for skin cancer

The lowdown I am with leading dermatologist Dr Chris Kearney, whom I see twice a year for a skin check-up. Thanks to my long history under the Australian sun, I’ve experienced a few cancers – basal cell carcinomas, to be exact – which is part of the reason I am obsessed with being sun-safe. The process is simple: strip down and put on a surgical gown while Chris dons a set of souped-up magnifying glasses to examine my skin closely, including the area under my eyes, my scalp and between my toes. He finishes by checking with me to see if I have any spots I’m worried about.

Pain factor Zero.

Downtime An hour.

Results I get the all-clear.

Jo Malone Poppy & Barley with Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense ($199, 100ml) is our new fragrance favourite, thanks to the way it reminds us of the English countryside and boundless wildflowers. There are three scents with the same poppy and barley base notes, but we love the myrrh and tonka best for its delicious warmth and richness.

Ask Stephanie

What is the best way to remove eye make-up?

I am a big fan of micellar water for this task. Simply saturate a cotton pad and gently press it to your eye area for a few seconds, then wipe away the make-up. Try Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution (priceline.com.au, $22).
